Hey guys and gals! Welcome to another instalment of "A Kinda Blog Thing I Do from Time To Time... Maybe"!
I hope you boys and girls have all been good because it's nearly time for Santa to come again! LOL. Merry Christmas and all other associated holidays to you all. We are all accepting here so don't worry I'm not going to start preaching about the baby Jesus or anything.
So let's start with changes. To be honest there hasn't really been much. I had to take a bit of a break for a couple of months after the Road Trip as I changed jobs and had to get used to that and get some money coming in before I started exploring again. And not gonna lie, that was REALLY hard. I missed out on a 2nd Road Trip at the start of December with Steve Ronin again, but also the one and only Exploring with Josh. Much love to Steve he is an awesome guy and loved exploring with him, but Josh is the reason I got into exploring in the first place. And I suppose as a knock on effect, the whole of the 'Exploring Crew' too. I used to watch them all. But I, as with many people I guess, started by watching Josh.
In fact embarrassingly enough I remember featuring him in a "best channels" video I made way back when I first started youtube. I think I sent him a link and was so excited when he actually left a comment on my video! :D (#embarrassing)
So to go on the trip with him would have been amazing. And I am so sorry I missed it. But hopefully one day there will be another opportunity.
Luckily the whole gap thing on my channel wasn't all that noticeable because of all the videos I had backed up from the Road Trip I had a fair few videos to keep me going, so for you guys it probably seemed seamless.
But now I am back on form, got some steady money coming in and I'm hitting those explores HARD in 2018. This is gonna be a big year for the channel I can already tell.
My New Years resolution for this year is "Bigger and Better" which basically means that I am going to be concentrating on making the channel the best it can be. I'm going to be investing a lot of time and money into the channel to improve the videos and the channel in general. That includes getting a passport and booking some trips, learning new techniques in filming and getting new equipment such as a Full Frame camera (probably going to be looking at a Sony A7 of some description) and a gimbal (again, any companies who wanna sponsor me with one of these...hit me up!).
I really want to try and make the videos as good as I possibly can do, as well as making the experiences for me memorable and enjoyable. "Bigger and Better"!
Why not tell me what YOUR New Years resolution is going to be... and do you think you'll stick to it?
On top of that I want to try and get a few companies involved, maybe sponsoring videos or trips, or maybe just doing a few product reviews. The kind of reviews that'll help you guys pick what kind of stuff to buy for your own adventures.
And for those of you who remember the days of the channel being about gaming, you might remember that I am no stranger to reviews. I had a pretty successful series about Early Access Games called "First Look - Game Reviews". And if you do remember that, you'll know that I was ALWAYS brutally honest about products I got. You'll only get the truth from me. If it's crap... guess what... I'll tell you its crap. Straight up.
So this is something you may occasionally see on the channel but for the most part I want to include those reviews on HERE. In this blog. As well as other stuff I like such as Movies and Games. I don't want them taking over, so this feels like a pretty good low impact area that those of you who ARE interested in reading the extra behind the scenes stuff can check out at your leisure.
And that's pretty much it for now, I'm looking forward to spending Christmas with my kids and eating too much crap, as we all are, but in terms of news and upcoming stuff, that's it. But talking of "Behind the Scenes" stuff, if you haven't seen it already, please check out the Road Trip Behind the Scenes video. There are some pretty interesting extra clips in there that I'm sure you guys will like.
I'll link it at the bottom of this post. But for now, thanks once again for checking out the blog. Please share it around as I'm not sure many people know about it yet and I'll see you all in the next one... cya!
Yes. That's right. I'm making a second post . I know right!
So what's happened since my last post? Actually quite a lot! We've had both Halloween and Fireworks night. Now not being a huge fan of fireworks... no that's not a joke, I actually seriously don't like fireworks. But what I do like is Halloween. In fact Halloween is one of my favourite holidays of the year. I mean it's not really surprising if you take one look at my YouTube channel. There is a definite "Dark" Theme about my videos and my channel in general.
So for Halloween, on the channel, this year I actually made two videos. This wasn't initially planned. We had actually planned for MONTHS to do an overnight stay in an abandoned place and in fact... get ready for some EXCLUSIVE inside information that you're only going to find here on the Blog... yeah how cool is that! But the first time we talked about the overnight stay was just after we visited the Lyndhurst Park Hotel. That was our initial idea for the overnight stay. Unfortunately, soon after our visit they started being more proactive with the security for that place and put up new cameras and boarded up all of the access points.
After that, we had a fair few ideas for other places, including the Golf Club I went to with Exploring the Unseen World, the Girl's School I went to with my Dad and the Hospital I went to recently with The Abandoned Explorer, Steph and my friend Matt. But eventually we decided on the Labs as it had the upstairs room that we stayed in most of the night and (as we thought) had a fair bit of privacy as the site was completely surrounded in a fence. But for those of you who have seen the video... that's not exactly how it went.
But it was a really fun night where I and a few of the others got pranked quite heavily. It was also awesome to be able to film with both Jack and Tom from Exploring the Unseen World. It's been too long.
If you haven't seen that video, I recommend you give it a look...
Another bit of exclusive knowledge is that Kurt from "Just Kurt" was supposed to come along to the Halloween special, but unfortunately due to personal circumstances was unable to make it. Which was a shame as he is one of the people I've been wanting to collaborate with for quite a while. But I'm sure one day we will!
So as I said I had 2 Halloween video's this year! And that is correct. I was actually invited by Jack of ETUW to Tisbury to go and film at a haunted house of horrors which was awesome!
Like I said, I am a HUGE fan of Halloween and when he invited me I was like "Hell Yeah" if I can find a way there... I'll be there! And I'm so glad that I managed to make it because it was a fun evening.
We arrived after driving through a ton of what I call "axe murder ally's". And in case you are wondering what that is, it's basically a load of out in the middle of no where roads with no lights, trees or fields on either side and a faint smell of cabbage. You know what I'm talking about. The kinda road that if your car broke down on it, you'd immediately spot tiny little sets of eyes appear from within the trees that stare deep into your soul...
Anyway! When we arrived we hovered around for a bit before jumping head first into the creepy house of horror that was Tisbury Swimming Pool. And it was pretty cool. They had a "Jigsaw" from Saw, "Jason" from Friday the 13th, "Freddy" from Nightmare on Elm Street and the Chainsaw Massacre guy ... sorry I don't remember his name... but he had a cool chainsaw... so... yeah it was cool.
We got in for free when we went round, but to be honest for £1 a go it was pretty good value for the regular kids who were there. And I say "regular" kids, because all it takes is a bit of face paint and a few jumpscares and even we turned into big kids.
If you managed to make it through you even got a goodie bag to take home... and remember that it was only a single pound to go round, my goodie bag contained several sweets, a fake finger, a bag of bacon fries and a fidget spinner... now if that's not good value for a single pound... I don't know what is!?
Anyway, if you wanna see that check it out here, but please check out Tisbury Swimming Pool's Facebook page too because they did a great job and deserve some attention...
So that has been my last few weeks basically. After the House of Horrors... literally after, we went and explored some pretty cool caves in the middle of the forest in the dark, but that video won't be up for a couple of weeks, but at least you've got that to look forward to.
In terms of the Road Trip videos, as of writing this I have 2 more plus a behind the scenes video to come and then I'll have to go back to actually leaving the house to make fresh new explores instead of just editing ones from weeks ago... and I can't wait!
Anyway, I'm gonna sign off here. As always, please go and check out the channel. I upload regular videos, at least 1 each week and also check out the Tazer Store! There is A LOT of new stuff in there including the prints are now IN STOCK and brand new merch on sale now at LOWER prices which is something I've wanted to be able to do for ages as spreadshirt was always WAY too expensive.
I especially like that we now sell a really special engraved zippo lighter in the store. Check it out, it's one of a kind and pretty damn cool.
So that's it see you next time!
So, I haven't updated the website in a while, so thought that maybe I should, so here we are.
On top of that I want to try and include a regular blog of behind the scenes stuff related to the explores and also the current goings on around everything "Tazer".
So what's new??? Err... well... I suppose there is a fair bit. I just recently got back from my Road Trip with Steve Ronin and the other members of the newly created UK Exploring Crew. (I'll try and link them at the bottom of this post)
So what was it like? It was good, had a few hiccups to begin with... as most incidents of throwing a group who have never met each other together tend to have. And some bad luck at the beginning of the Road Trip too with some unsuccessful explores... but that's all part of the fun ;)
After a day or two things settled down and we got to know each other and had probably one of the best explores ever, which I think was a bit of a turning point to be honest. We needed a good explore to set us off right and we got it on day 3 with the theatre. As of writing this, that video had only just gone up, but I'll include the video here in case you haven't seen it...
This as I said was an amazing explore with such a dark history but also an amazing one. It was such a mix. On one hand you had the building's history with the greats. Playing host to the likes of "The Beatles" and "Laurel and Hardy" and then you had the more recent and darker past of the site being used for child trafficking. Truly horrible, but a site that I won't forget in a hurry that's for sure.
The trip had many more exciting adventures, which I want to talk about, but as a lot of the other videos aren't yet released I think I'll leave that for another post.
In terms of other Tazer-related goings on, I have been trying to raise money to fund another road trip or general trip as I had so much fun on the last one. Part of this is through Patreon donations and another is selling prints of the photos we take while on the explores. This is actually something I've wanted to do for a long time, but have never really got around to actually doing it.
As we speak I have the frames delivered and prints on the way, then we will be all set to start selling. If you want to grab one for yourself, they are currently on the "Tazer Stores" for pre-order (shameless self-promo).
Talking of which! Trying to raise money and publicising the fact has recently brought in a fair few negative reactions from some who believe that we should not be asking for money at all. I've got to be honest and say that I don't understand this mindset at all. Well... I suppose I kind a do, but not in the way that I'm doing it personally.
A lot of the negative seems to be related to how some believe that what I do is a hobby and I should pay for my own hobby... and this is the part I get, because you're right. 100% right. It is a hobby and I should and DO pay for it myself.
In fact the whole time I have done the explores I have paid for the lot myself. The trips, petrol, equipment etc etc. I have worked and payed my way. In fact it is only recently that I have found myself without a job, and that, I need to mention, is NOT the reason I have asked for help at all, as I WILL get another job very soon, I hate doing nothing so there is no way I won't get one. The reason is actually just that I wanted to give people who WANT to, an option to donate to me if the CHOOSE to.
My content, my videos, will always be free. But there are some people out there who like to help out, who wish to lend a hand. I myself have a very helpful and loyal Patreon pledge who gives me $2 every month to help out. And that's fantastic. And thank you to you Alexandre I really appreciate that you help me out like that it really means a lot.
The fact that I have a Patreon page doesn't change a thing. It doesn't mean that I am gonna be profiting from it, because honestly I am thousands in the negative from all the money I have spent on trips and equipment, but that's fine because I do it for the love of exploring not to make money.
But IF people do want to help out and do want that next big trip to come a little sooner, then thank you because the support does help a lot.
And yes I will post about it from time to time, just to make people aware that the option is there, if they choose to help. Otherwise, I will continue as normal making a video a week because I love it, and enjoy going on the trips. This is not a way for me to make money at all.
Anyway, I don't want to dwell on that for ages, I just thought I should address it as it's been a small issue recently.
And if you would like to donate my details are.... XDDD sorry had to be done!
So I think that's it for now, I'm going to try and keep this posts coming as often as possible, so keep an eye on my social media and the website for more, and I'll see you next time!
